School Bus Attendant

Job Description

School Bus attendants provide assistance and order for students during school bus rides to and from school. The School Bus Attendant/Monitor will perform a variety of tasks to help support the school bus driver in providing safe and proper transportation of all students to and from school. The listed examples may not include all duties performed by the person in this position. Duties may vary from time to time and are at the discretion of the Soft Service Manager. 1. Greeting students as they boarded, showing passengers to their assigned seats and making sure they buckle their seatbelts. 2. Supervises students to make sure they behave during the ride and often accompanies students from the bus to the school entrance. 3. Assists in maintaining a safe operating environment for the school bus. 4. Directing passengers on and off the bus. 5. Supervising conduct while the bus is in motion. 6. Operate wheelchair lifts and assisting with other special needs. 7. Evacuating passengers in case of emergency. 8. Escorting younger children or children with special needs to and from the bus.
